Breton Heritage Club - Domain de Trévarez
For the first meeting of the Breton Heritage Club, we proposed a visit to the Domaine de Trévarez at Saint-Goazec, Finistère. 14 of us were meant to join, unfortunately two could not make it at the last minute. Even though we were only a smallish group, we coud book and get a reduced price.
The pink Château de Trévarez was built for James de Kerjégu, It is an example of late 19th century neo-Gothic architecture with technical features amongst the most innovative of its time. It was heavily damaged during the Second World War, so the château is now only partially open to the public, but it was well worth a visit, both for the château and the beautiful 85-hectare grounds and its rhododendrons.
