Whether you are an accomplished amateur painter, or a complete beginner, and you want to spend some of your time among other artists, our Art Club may be for you. We are an amateur group of French and English speakers who like to paint, but also like to meet up to exchange ideas and socialise together.
The club meets on Friday afternoons from 13:30 to 16:15, usually in the prefab by the lake at Callac, and sometimes outdoors.
We each have our own techniques and favourite themes, but we know that we can learn from each other, and we are happy to help beginners if they want our advice. We have equipment available for beginners to take their first steps so they don’t have to make a big investment initially. We do not have a teacher as such, but occasionally we ask professional artists or talented amateurs to show us how they work and to teach us new techniques.
As last year, if it proves impossible to use the communal room in 2021-22 due to health regulations, we will try to meet up remotely on Zoom. It is not quite the same of course, but we paint whilst sitting or standing, we discuss and gossip, drink tea or coffee, so it’s not that different from most classes! It is a good way to keep in touch in spite of the circumstances.
